Chameli is a contemporary love story between a man who has lost his wife and a professional and much hardened prostitute. A sudden rainstorm that brings them together on one pavement, and sparks off a romance unlike any other.

Aman Kapoor, 32, had lost his wife and still to be born child on a rainy night in an accident a couple of years ago. The rain brings back memories of that night and haunts his life.

On another rainy night, in another part of Mumbai city, Chameli, then a young and innocent girl, now a hardened prostitute was lured by her uncle to Mumbai and sold to a brothel. The rain terrifies her.

It is this rain that brings together these two strangers. On one night. In the arches of Flora Fountain, South Mumbai. And a relationship blossoms. Amidst two people who would never have met. A relationship that alters their lives. Forever.

Did you know?

Original director, Anant Balani passed away in an autorickshaw while going home on the 5th day of the shoot. Sudhir Mishra came in as director and the movie was completed on schedule and within budget. No, not a single day was lost. But everyone missed Balani on the day of release.
