Pritish Nandy Communications’ widely acclaimed film Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi was the closing film at the Indian Film Festival 2004 in Los Angeles on April 18 and the screening was attended by several Hollywood celebrities as well as director Sudhir Mishra himself. After the screening of the film, Vanessa Redgrave personally walked up to Sudhir Mishra and told him that she thought the film was “a masterpiece.”
Earlier, the film had drawn huge critical acclaim at the Berlin Film Festival and it has now been invited to the Commonwealth Film Festival in Manchester next month and thereafter to the very prestigious Edinburgh Film Festival. “It is one of our most successful films” says Pritish Nandy, Chairman PNC, “and we are proud of the impact it has made in some of the topmost film festivals overseas”.
Says Christina Marouda, Festival Director, “It went extremely well. Everyone loved the film and they all stayed for the Q&A. Vanessa Redgrave was among the audience and she congratulated Sudhir after the screening. Many of those who attended are very eager to help with distribution. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to host the North American premiere of the film.”
