Pritish Nandy Communications announces that it has signed a three movie deal with Sony Pictures, one of the world’s leading studios. This deal will see Sony Pictures and Pritish Nandy Communications coming together to co-produce three Indian films that Sony Pictures will globally distribute across all platforms. The first of these three films, Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram, is scheduled to go on the floor later this year while the other two films are in discussion and will be shortly finalised.
“We are delighted to co-produce films with Sony Pictures”, said Pritish Nandy, Chairman, PNC, “and we hope this association will strengthen the global presence and reach of Bollywood movies. We do not make customary fare and it is therefore particularly exciting to see a major international studio like Sony reaffirming the changing trends in our industry, where new audiences are demanding a new kind of popular cinema. We see this as a great opportunity to showcase before the world Bollywood’s new trends. Working with Sony will also reaffirm our faith in the corporatization of the entertainment industry out here, which we were among the first to take ahead. Two of the world’s biggest and most popular movie industries will be coming closer with this deal.”
“We, at Sony, are very excited to work with Pritish Nandy Communications and take our relationship with Bollywood further”, said Uday Singh, Executive Vice President, Columbia Tristar Motion Picture Group, who heads Sony Pictures’ Indian operations. “These co-productions will showcase the synergy between popular Indian cinema and global studios like Sony who want to take the best of all cultures to the world. PNC films are trend setting and very popular with young audiences who are always looking for something new. Working with PNC will therefore be a very satisfying experience for all of us in Sony.”
